Submission Guidelines

Our magazine is based on a foundation of reader-submitted work. We welcome unsolicited articles, but cannot guarantee that we will be able to use your project.

Publication dates for issues are as follows:

Winter – December 1
Spring – March 1
Summer – June 1
Autumn – September 1

Queries

We encourage you to send a query if you are unsure of our interest in your project. A query is a short specific description and outline of your project or article.

Length

We recommend that essays run 500 to 2,500 words. Projects and tutorials need only be as long as is necessary to adequately convey your purpose.  We do recommend some commentary on the project as an introduction.

When submitting an electronic file, please save your article as a Word/ OpenOffice document and e-mail it as an attachment. If you do not have access to these programs, please contact us and we can identify the best format to use.

Please do not send us an article that you have already submitted elsewhere.  We ask that if you have a project you have hosted on your own site/blog and you wish to submit it for publication in Rhythm of the Home, that you link to the project at Rhythm of the Home for the duration of the current publication in which your project is featured.

Please include your name , website, and e-mail address on the first page of your manuscript, and any correspondence.

Bionote

Please include a brief bionote (1-2 sentences) at the end of your submission, so that we can include it if your project or article is used.  A small bio photo is also welcomed.

Photography

We love photos, and only ask that the photos you send be of high resolution.  We reserve the right to crop and/or color correct photos for the best presentation within the magazine.
